ORC Week 7 | So close
Buckle up, we made a lot of progress this week and we’re almost there! Week seven of the ORC just wrapped and this room is nearly done!!! This week, we got most of the fixtures in, Paul finished the custom shelf, and the sink skirt was finished and installed. It’s looking so so good.
When I put together the mood board for this space, I had initially planned for a shorter walnut shelf with radius corners for a little bit of softness. However, Paul brought in the full-length board to measure for size, and holding it up across the wall looked too good to trim. This is before any finish, it’s just propped into the space and it still looks so good. I’m excited to have more space to style, especially because the sink skirt will give us storage for the not-so-cute things which means I can put all the vases and candles and art that my heart desires on the shelf.
Also this week, we installed the faucet (don’t ask if it runs or not, that’s irrelevant.) The polished brass looks gorgeous with the Milton & King wallpaper, I’m so pleased with how the finishes are all coming together. Don’t get me started on the tiny hot/cold handles. I love them. The faucet & toilet lever are both solid brass from Kingston Brass. They look incredible and have a really great weight to them so they feel lux.
The only issue is that the center hole in our 3-hole sink is smaller than the other two so the drain stopper doesn’t quite fit. Add this to the list of things one could avoid if one had chosen to measure more closely. It’s definitely fixable and honestly not at all noticeable so we’ll deal with that at a later date.
I hadn’t planned to treat this window because it definitely doesn’t require any additional light blockage and to save a little on the budget. When the wallpaper went up, however, I really felt like it would benefit from the added texture. And just my luck? We had a misordered shade from a client project at work and my bosses said I could have it if it fit. How did this custom window shade end up being the exact right size for our window? No idea but I’m thrilled about it. Ignore that I didn’t wipe up the dust before I snapped this picture.
Most of the last few weeks have been dedicated to waiting for products, fixing broken/old things, and cleanup. It’s lovely to finally see it coming together and be able to enjoy . The last few steps are to get the light installed, style the space, and decide if I’m putting up a gallery wall or not. Look out for that poll over on Instagram. See you next week for the reveal!
Until next time,
